Red Sandstone Desert Skin
landscape

2023

This is a proposal for a seasonal moss garden along the ancient mud wall of the ancient Royal Garden in Nagaur, India. The project reconfigures the existing water management systems, which are already embedded in the architecture, and redirects overflow into the landscape. Water is concentrated in the shadows of the architecture, where cooler microclimates can host optimal life. The site is re-graded to manage the new water flows. The elements of the architecture are used to sustain a new, semi-managed landscape garden, which disrupts the manicured greenery within the existing fort. The proposal augments the microclimates already created by the for on to the desert ground.
